The Green Investment Club Logo

We help people know enough about money to fund the life of their dreams.

The Green Investment Club (TGIC) is a community-based investment club focused on helping young people live the lives they want by providing access to financial education, insights and investment opportunities towards achieving their financial goals.

We hold 3 values dear;

Empathy

Empathy

We understand that we are all building up from different starting points and hence we embrace peculiarities on size of income, individual background and more.

Integrity

Integrity

Due diligence is our barest minimum, and we do not shy away from telling the truth, every step of the way.

Innovation

Innovation

We are constantly exploring new ways, approaches and mediums to create more value for our members.

It all began with a simple mission

Tomie Balogun

We have all either heard or had our own share of sad investment experiences, from the profits that never returned to opportunities we heard about only after it sold out. Most times, you don't even know where to begin from. With careers (outside finance) to prioritize, it is often hard for most people to do the due diligence that investment requires.

That financial education and diligence is exactly what Tomie Balogun took upon herself. In 2013, she started an investment club with four other MBA classmates at the time. They would pool individual funds together to get access to bigger investment opportunities; share the rewards and risks; and hold each accountable to their financial goals.

3 years on, The Green Investment Club boasts of over 1000 members, making it the largest in Nigeria and with diaspora membership from 20 other countries, as well as investments worth over $9 million, and a mission that continues to yield results, with more people getting closer to financial freedom.

Community helping communities

Beyond our paid membership system, we also support social and communal development through the TGIC Social Responsibility Fund which we have deployed to support a number of initiatives. These include our support of Ideation Hub Africa’s work towards sustainable social change; a recent partnership with LSETF to raise funds for a business to recover from the recent looting in Lagos state; and taking it upon ourselves to sponsor 10 children to school every year through the Bethesda Child Support Agency (a part of Freedom Foundation).
